VOLUNTEER SCREENING

The Mornington District Basketball Association Volunteer Check assists in protecting children from sexual or physical harm by ensuring that people who work with, or care for them are subject to a screening process.

All coaches and team managers must provide a signed Member Protection Declaration (MPD) and copy of a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) to the Association, and receive their official card BEFORE undertaking their role.

*Children aged under 18 years are exempt from the volunteer check.

**VIT holders and members of Victoria Police do not require a WWCC

Coaches must present their official card and sign the score sheet when arriving at the stadium.

Team Managers must present their official card when they collect the score sheets before games.

If a coach is not present, only someone who has been screened and holds an official card may fill-in as a coach. For this reason we recommend teams allocate an assistant coach as a back-up.

TRAINING

Training venues must be secured independently as Mornington Basketball courts are not available to hire for training. Local schools and sports centres are often available to hire for training.
