MDBA Appoints Director of Coaching

Mornington Basketball is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Sherwell to the position of Director of Coaching.

Andy joins Mornington Basketball with an outstanding coaching background and we are absolutely delighted to have him as part of the team. Andy was selected from a strong field of candidates and his coaching philosophies are closely aligned with our coaching vision and values.

Andy brings with him a wealth of basketball knowledge and expertise having held a number of notable senior coaching positions with the WNBL Dandenong Rangers, Eltham Wildcats Big V State Championship Women’s team and Waverley Falcons, Big V State Championship teams amongst an array of other notable senior coaching positions with highly successful basketball associations.

Andy will commence his role this week and will take on overall responsibility for the development of a coaching program and pathway, coaching education, mentoring and management of all representative coaches at Mornington. At the grassroots level, Andy will deliver the Basketball Victoria Community Coaching accreditation for all Mornington domestic basketball coaches.

Our Junior Development Officer, Kenny Brunner will continue to work with our players and lead programs for the Association. Both Andy and Kenny will work together to ensure that all players at Mornington both representative and domestic are given every opportunity to perform at their peak potential. Andy has indepth knowledge of State programs having held numerous positions as Head Coach of Metropolitan State teams. The future for Mornington Basketball is strong and the appointment of a Director of Coaching was the next step in further strengthening our coaches and players.
